Make My Life A Sacrifice
Anyways, I now spend my days in the hospital waiting for babies to pop out from their mummy's *ahem* you know what part I am talking about don't you? I actually think I've been quite lucky, I don't need to stay for like the full 12 hour shift. Today I got there at 7am for handover, and my lady delivered by 8:53am, with an addition of a medical emergency, post-partum haemorrhage! She was a primigravida, and she didn't receive any pain relief. She is also 24 years old. She had a little girl. They didn't know the sex of the baby before it was born so it was a surprise. I think that's sweet. I think when I have kids, I'll let it be a surprise. Ok, I might seriously re-consider that statement after having seen all these livebirths.
Today's baby was really cute, she started blinking her eyes even before her shoulders got delivered. She's got blonde hair. She got really pink after a while and her mum was showing her to me after. That was after they managed to stop the blood from pouring out after like ALL the doctors rushed in to stop the PPH.
In Dandenong, the babies are all delivered by the midwives when it is a normal birth.
The first livebirth (I saw a stillborn before that) was a lady having her 2nd baby. I didn't have to wait too long for that one as well. Went in at 7am, she delivered at 11 plus.. nearly none. The baby girl was soooo pretty. Curly black hair, big black eyes and long eyelashes. Who ever said that newborns were crinkly and scrawny and covered in goo?
Well, the next time I go, I can get my hands in. :)
I haven't seen a caesar yet. Might go stick my head into OT tmr.
Went for clinic today and got to palpate a lot of pregnant tummies, feeling around for baby's head. There was a lady with twins. I love the kids that come in with their mums. There was this really really really sweet baby girl. 6 months old. She was gorgeous! I got to carry her and she drooled all over me. She was such a sweet baby. She doesn't even cry at all. Then there were a few little boys, one who was stuffiung his face with lollies. So so so so so so so so cute!!!!!!
Ok, long day again tomorrow. Finally getting some tutes. Better go to bed.
