Make My Life A Sacrifice
This is gonna be the back logo of our new CCM T-shirt. Boon Harn designed it. Thanks girl! I am still trying to send your boxes back.
Today, after the longest time ever, I watched 7th Heaven. I used to love the show. The only thing was that they showed it at the weirdest times. Like on Saturday afternoons when I had SYC practice or on Sundays at 11am when I had to go to church! Anyways, for those of you who don't know, 7th Heaven is like the only uncorrupted American show there is on TV these days. The father is a minister aka church pastor. The wife is a home-maker and they have 7 kids. Matt, Mary, Lucy, Simon, Ruthie, David and Samuel.
The show has changed A LOT. There is no more Matt, Mary and Simon. They all don't stay at home anymore apparently. The twins aren't babies anymore and Ruthie is no longer that cute little girl with curly hair. She's about 11 now and even has a sort-of boyfriend. Luch is MARRIED! And there are heaps of new characters.
Anyways, in the show today, everyone was whinging about all the things they had to do and were all taking advantage of Annie, the mother. Dad wouldn't pick up the laundry, Lucy wanted her pecan pie etc etc. And in the show, Ruthie gets lost, with that guy, and she meets these 2 guys from Sudan. They're called the lost boys.

It was really interesting. The way they highlighted the lives of these child refugees from Sudan who had escaped their homes, lost their families and walked by foot over 2 countries to a refugee camp. Most were only 6-7 years old. Half of them died. Makes you feel guilty about whinging about your life. They ate mud to get by. Now some of them are in the US. Schooling and working. In hope of a better life and returning to the land they call home.
The one statement that struck me was when one of them said, "There were times when I was lost, but with God I was never lost."
It really made me think about how recently, I know God is here with me but on so many instances, I have chosen to ignore Him or leave Him aside for various reasons. It struck me that the importance of God in our lives is so so so so great. Cos He's always there. People of vision, excited for Jesus. Are we really? Or are we only excited when we get on a spiritual high?
