Make My Life A Sacrifice
My Father led me into the garden
And showed me all around
"My child," He told me, "look around."
"All you see is yours to take."
So I looked around.
Beautiful flowers my eyes did see,
Poppies, lilies were mine to choose,
But my eyes wandered over the fence
To the flowers that lay beyond.
"Thank You Father,
But I would like those that lie beyond.
They look more beautiful You see
I like them more than these within."
My Father smiled sadly as He said,
"Well my child, that's for you to choose.
What I give of you is of my best."
I smiled at the words as I left the fence.
Beautiful flowers I left behind
For what I thought were more beautiful to be.
Alas hidden among the rosy bed
Thorns and serpents struck my hand.
"Why Father," I asked in tears.
"Why did You let me go ahead."
"Well my child,"my Father said,
"I love you so, I let you choose,
For what seems good may not be so,
The world out there is sly and cold;
But what I give is from my heart
It's the best I have,
I hope You'll take it with all my heart."
Why do we sometimes choose the ways of the world even when we know what is wrong...
It's so hard sometimes...
